SWEAT (TV Series) - 8 x 30’ chosen for incubator with BBC, BFI & Climate Spring.
Climate Spring in partnership with BFI NETWORK and the BBC Writersroom announced Tommy Ross-Williams as one the seven writers of the first Hot House: Development Lab - a development lab for scripted long form TV and feature film projects about climate change. The partners selected writing duo Joana Nastari & Tommy Ross-Williams with their pitch SWEAT a queer romantic-comedy about young climate scientist Joe as he falls for an enigmatic club kid one hot sweaty London summer. They receive one one-on-one development and the opportunity for development funding from Climate Spring.
Tommy Ross-Williams (they/them) and Joana Nastari (she/they) met to make theatre infused with political activism. They are part of a collaborative writing process of artists and activists bringing My Uncle Is Not Pablo Escobar to Brixton House. They both have solo writing careers. Tommy’s background as a writer is in theatre with work performed at The Bush, BAC & The Park Theatre and their last film won the Film Futures award at Little Wing Festival. Joana has TV projects in development with various production companies and participated in a writers room for Disney. She is also working on a script commission adapted from her award-winning stage and radio play Fuck You Pay Me. Together Tommy and Joana like to make work which centres hope, interdependence and sensuality.
